Whites
CHENIN BLANC + GARNATXA BLANCA
2019 Cellar Tuets. Tot Blanc. Penedes, Catalunya, ESP (org)
Fun, cloudy, white blend with wonderful aromatics. Wine is grown in a somewhat privileged environment that is situated 550 metres above sea level and experiences stark contrasts in temperature between day night that encourages optimal ripening of the field blend of seven different varietals. Tropical aromas with citrus pith and Mediterranean salinity on the palate.

MACABEU
2019 Clos du Rouge Gorge. Hors Champ La Femme Soleil. Roussillon, FR (org)
White wine made from one the finest producers of natural/biodynamic wine in France. Cyril Fhal, who gained experience from the Loire Valley, later came to the Roussillon region to produce his own wine in a small vineyard, cultivated on soil prevalent to gneiss and slate. It brings out, with raw transparency, the characteristics of mineral in the soil. Delicious bitter, with notes of citrus and pear. With only 3500 bottles produced, keep an eye out for this one.

SAUVIGNON BLANC
2019 Marie Rocher. Emmenez-Moi. Loire, FRA (org)
Marie Rocher was an editor and publisher about wine turned winemaker. Incredible to know 2018 was her first vintage (woah!). Incredible wine and pure sauvignon blanc—light, dry, crisp, and lively with mouthwatering acidity.
32

2019 Oriol Artigas. La Bestia, Alella, Catalunya, ES (bio)
“Large and creamy white wine made from 100% Pansa Blanca grapes. On the nose stand out aromas of white fruit, followed by Mediterranean scents. On the palate it is juicy, full-bodied, with a final saline touch that makes it very long in persistence.”

ORANGE / SKIN CONTACT
MOSCATEL
2019 Casa Balaguer. El Carro de la Mata. Valencia, ES (bio)
Moscatel grapes spend 28 days on the skins and then aged in amphora clay jars for 6 months before bottling. Beautiful sunny-straw hue. On the nose—lychee, jasmine and apricot. On the palate--dry, complex with mouthwatering acidity. Floral, tart, beeswax and clay.
35
FIELD BLEND
2019 Louis-Antoine Luyt. Gorda Blanca. Guarilihue, Chile (org)
“Crazy ride of a wine where floral freshness and smokey minerality battle for center stage. Fresh grapes, white flowers, and wet earth on the nose are followed by a crunchy, chewy, and almost peaty mid-palate, but the final impression of the wine is surprisingly refreshing.”
29
TREBBIANO + MALVASIA
2019 La Distesa. Nur. Marche, IT (org)
43
PROCANICO
2019 Le Coste. Bianco. Gradoli, Lazio, IT (bio)
“Vines planted over volcanic soils surrounding Lake Bolsena. Electric orange/amber hue. A warmer vintage provided more robust grapes, which were macerated for two weeks in tini, before being pressed off to big old casks for a year of élevage. Complex notes of citrus, smoke and spice, fine tannins and a long, mineral finish make for something truly special.”
50
TREBBIANO + MALVASIA
2019 Do.te. Brutal!!! Tuscany, IT (org)
First brutal from Filippo Calabresi. Sunset juice with hints of citrus. A splash of vognier with notes of peach and white flower. Spending 15 days on the skin. Only 444 bottles made!

40
PANSA BLANCA
2019 Oriol Artigas, La Bella, Alella, Catalunya, ES (org)
DO Alella are essentially the vineyards of Barcelona, located just north of the city along the coast of the Mediterranean. The wine region dates back to Roman times. Eleven days on the skins. Delicate complexity, beautiful structure and memorable marine character. Orchard fruits with a pinch of salt followed with a long mineral finish.
58
XAREL.LO
2017 Clos Lentiscus. Perill Blanc, Penedes, Catalunya, ES (bio)
Biodynamic winemaking pioneer in the region, Manel Ivinyo focuses on native grapes of Catalunya. Old vine xarel.lo aged in amphora for six months. Plenty of mineral structure, medium bodied yet delicate and elegant with just enough texture. Incredible.
41
TRAMINER + SAUVIGNON BLANC
2017 Radovan Suman. Sun Drops, Styria SL (bio)
“A blend of Traminer, Sauvignon, and Riesling grown in Slovenia. The grapes undergo a long maceration on the skins before being bottled unfined, unfiltered, with no added so2. Radovan's approach to viticulture is even more radical. A few years back, he renounced the use of sulfur and copper sprays and stopped plowing entirely. Though his yields are somewhat lower, he believes that his soils have never been healthier and that the energy transferred to the wines, and ultimately to those who consume them, is an unquantifiable good — what fellow Slovenian, Slavoj Žižek, might call a ‘quantum good.’”

GRECANICO
2019 Cantina Marilina. Sikele. Sicily, IT (bio)

FIELD BLEND
2019 Joan Ramon Escoda. Mas del Gaio. Montblanc. Catalunya, ES (bio)
The first bottle of wine I had with my wife on our first night of our honeymoon in Barcelona. Lovely wine. Vibrant energy, sun kissed by the Mediterranean. In hue and flavor—sun setting and saline, just relaxed and right. Nothing to overthink with this one. Love and light is all the feels. Hints of unripe mango and lingering zip. Mouthwatering and addicting, easy on the palate.
48

2019 Abazzia San Giorgio. BAT, Pantelleria Island, Sicily, IT (bio)
“Wine made from grapes grown on the small island of Pantelleria. 9 months of aging in steel tanks, followed by 5 months in the bottle. A wine with a unique cherry-pink color, spectacular sapidity and an explosive mix of tropical fruits and strawberry.”
62
PANSA BLANCA + GARNATXA
2019 Oriol Artigas. El Ginjol. Rosat. Alella, Catalunya, ES (bio)
“80% Pansa Blanca with 20% Garnatxa Negra. Five days of skin contact with whole bunches of Garnatxa and destemmed Pansa Blanca. Aging in stainless steel. 21 year old vines planted on granite sandy soils. A refreshing skin-contact/rose wine with a nose that shows red apple skin and strawberries, while the palate is racy and bright, with notes of pear, strawberry, pomegranate, and salt.”
66
ALEATICO
2019 Le Coste. Rosato. Gradoli, Lazio, IT (bio)
“Aleatico from a fifty year old vineyard, planted some 500 metres above sea level. The grapes were destemmed and spent just a few hours on their skins before being pressed off to vat to finish fermentation, before a year of élevage in old barrels. From a warmer vintage, this is a little more open, fleshy and fruit forward than previous vintages. With aromas that really jump out of the glass, it is an incredibly compelling drink. Hints of watermelon rind and blood orange peel. L.A. its patio season.”
66
SANGIOVESE + MONTEPULCIANO
2017 Le Coste. Rusticone. Gradoli, Lazio, IT (bio)
“This is just the second time they have made this wine, an assemblage of grapes both white and red from various parcels young and old. The hot, dry vintage left the two with pressings that were uncommonly tannic, but through skilfull blending and gentle ageing, they have managed to produce a lively, earthy red wine that is full of charm.”
34
SYRAH + MERLOT
2019 Oriol Artigas. El Rumbero, Alella, Catalunya, ES (org)
Light beautiful color. A little floral on the nose. Elegant, bright, energetic and fresh. Mouthwatering acidity, mediterranean herbs, ripe red fruits and light earthy notes with a fine mineral structure. Love.

MERLOT + CARIGNAN
2018 L'Erba D'Agram. Merlot+Carignan+Chardonnay. Roussillon, FRA (org)
Project by friends of Julie and Ivo from Les Cigales Dans Le Fourmiliere. One of our more classic wines on our list. Inky and medium bodied red you can enjoy on its own or with something hearty. Fireplace vibes. Classy and rich, dry, slight tannins, dark fruit notes with herbal, black pepper, hints of baked spices and nutmeg.
27
MENCIA + CAINO
2018 Nancares Prieto. A Senda Vermella. Rias Baixas, Galicia, ES (org)
A delicious and racy light red from the coastal region of Rias Baixas. Aged in stainless steel and old French oak barrels. On the nose, plenty of crushed black pepper, delicate herbaceous notes, and crushed raspberry and blackberry. On the palate, tart, fresh and bright with notes of berries, thyme, black pepper around a mineral core.
44
SANGIOVESE
2019 Le Coste. Rosso. Gradoili, Lazio, IT (bio)
“Mostly Sangiovese, with small amounts of Ciliegiolo, Cannaiolo and Vaiano, planted together as is tradition in the area. The grapes were destemmed and the wine spent three weeks on skins, before being pressed off to large casks of chestnut and oak for a year of rest. This is perhaps the best iteration of this wine we have tried in its youth. With a nose of bright red cherries and minerals, fine tannins and beautiful acidity, it is incredibly vibrant and remarkably complete.”
42
GAMAY
2014 Isabelle & Bruno Perraud. Moulin a Vent. Beaujolais. FR (org)
An aged gamay (say what?!) that is remarkably fresh!. On the nose—fresh cranberry and dust. On the palate—lively, tart cherry cola up front with a sorta savory back end. Approachable and charming. Unexpected character. Beautiful velvet hue.
38

30
SYRAH + MARSANNE
2019 Casot Mailloles. El Nino. Banyuls de Mer, Roussillon, FRA (bio)
Young, talented winemaker, Jordi Perez, took over the 5 hectare estate that was made famous by Alain Castex and Ghislaine Magnier, who ran the estate until 2015. Jord’s wines always bring a sense of elegance and precision, the El Nino is no different. Nice and balanced wine that only gets better over time.
44
BRANCELLAO + CAINO
2018 Luis Rodriguez. Eidos Ermos, Ribeiro, Galicia, ES (org)
A blend of grapes native to Galicia. Aged in stainless steel then sees 6 months elevage in neutral oak barrels. On the nose, vanilla, plum jam and dates. Beautiful velvet color. Medium bodied with subtle complexity. Fresh and supple on the palate, hints of oak, berries and wild herbs with a lingering spiced finish. Elegant and finesse no doubt.

GAMAY
2019 Marie Rocher. Les Passantes. Loire, FR (org)
Marie Rocher was a writer/publisher about wine turned winemaker. Les Passantes, meaning ‘the ladies passing by’. Her first vintage was in 2018 (woah!). She is making some really tasty wines. Juicy, joyful, jazzy Gamay from the Loire. Nice fruit and easy to drink and share with friends. Crowd pleaser. 100% Gamay grapes hand-harvested from vines grown in a place formerly occupied by Clos Roche Blanche near the River Cher in Touraine, Loire.
